Anamatic

Upon doing further research, I have decided to change my storyline slightly. When looking at music videos such as Rihanna - 'We Found Love' I have found that an 'event' usually takes place e.g. a break up. As my original storyline was the classic "boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after," I decided to make it more interesting and change the storyline to the girl being heartbroken about a break up and remembering all the happy times she spent with him and in the end they will get back together. This will also allow me to be more creative when it comes to editing as I will be able to edit the videos in such a way to show that they are memories.
As I have changed parts of my storyboard, my anamatic consists of photos and scanned images of my hand-drawn storyboard. The reason why I took photos of the pictures I had drawn on my storyboard was to see if they were accessible angles and locations for me to be able to film at and it also allows me to have a more clear image in my mind of what my final video will look like.

This is just a minute long video of the first minute of my song. I simply used Windows Movie Maker to edit the clips together so this is only a basic and rough cut. I decided to put this together to show the films that I took when I did my first practice of filming. Some of the shots are different to what it shows in the storyboard. This is because I changed my idea after doing this filming. The reason why I changed my idea was because when I looked back at this video, I thought it seemed slightly boring and the shots were all pretty simple and plain along with the edits too.
When filming I encountered some problems. Due to the fact that we could only arrange to film after college, it was dark outside which meant that I only had the main lights in my room. This was a problem because the beginning of my video is at the start of the day so it should be light outside! When it comes to filming for my final cut I will schedule to shoot in the morning on a weekend.

Filming

Today I began filming some shots for my first draft of my music video. I was able to organise for Vicki who plays the lead role to come to do the filming rather than use just anyone as I did for my anamatic. This means that when it comes to making changes and possibly filming again for my final piece, it will be quicker and easier to film as we will have already done it almost the same before. As we have been friends for a long time, I felt it was important that we started to film now so that we were able to get used to the idea of her following my instruction and me filming her as it was weird and awkward to start off with because it is something we have never done before. I managed to film for the first 20 – 25 shots in the evening which took about 1 ½ hours but we spent some additional time trying out different things for her to do and different angles to see which was best as well.

These first five images show the photo album filled with photos that my character will be looking through. One of my ideas is that I will have the photos turn into videos to show that it is a memory.
To get the photos on [this] page, I went out a few weeks ago and took some videos of two people acting as a couple. They did things such as go on the swings, visit a park, walk to a stream and sit together. I then took still images from the videos and used them as my photos in the album. In my final edit of the video I will turn these photos that she looks at in the album into videos to create the idea that they are memories.

These three images I took when we were experimenting with different hairstyles for the shots of my character in the bathroom trying to get ready in the morning. I wanted her to look run down and exhausted so they were just typical day to day hairstyles that she would have in real life.

These five images show in the bathroom that I decided to change some of the hairstyles. I also thought that I should film her changing her hair as I could then use these films in my video to actually show her getting ready rather than just straight cuts of her looking different.

Ideas for my music video

In one part of my music video, I had the idea of turning some photos in a photo album into moving pictures to show the character remembering those moments. I got the idea from seeing it in Cher Lloyd's "I Want U Back"
I have already taken a fair few videos that I have then been able to take photos of to put into the photo album which I will then, on Final Cut Pro, edit to turn into the short film I've already shot.

Cast List

Vicki Harrison(LEAD)

I have been friends with Vicki for seven years and so I felt she would be the most comfortable to perform on video out of my group of friends  As she studied media last year, she knew I would be making a music video this year and so I discussed with her the song I would be choosing so that it would be easier for her to perform to. She also was part of a drama group and so has a lot of confidence and is very outgoing.
                                                                                                        Sam Lewis (MALE)
Sam and Vicki have been friends for over ten years and so I asked her if he would be up to playing the male role for my video. I have also met him as he went to my secondary and also is very close with Vicki. I knew he would be the most suitable role alongside Vicki as he is the person she feels most comfortable with.

Charlie Hagston (EXTRA)

Although she is not a main character in my video, I needed someone to be an ‘extra’ for a few shots. I have known her for seven years also but knew she wouldn't be as comfortable being filmed for the whole video so I asked her if she would be alright with having just a small part in it.

                                Rob Cruickshank (EXTRA)

Rob and charlie are good friends and I know both of them from secondary school so as I needed two extra people to appear as close friends/a couple,  I asked Rob if he would be okay with filming a few shots with charlie. As I have known both of them for a long time I knew that they were reliable and it took less than an hour to film the shots with them that I needed which was very easy.
